Ariana Greenblatt has appeared in some of the biggest films of the 21st century. She has played pivotal roles in Avengers: Infinity War and Barbie. Both grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, with the former ranking as the sixth highest grossing film of all time. Did we mention she’s still a teenager?

That’s right, Greenblatt has amassed a career most would kill for before graduating high school. Barring any major career changes, the actress is going to be in our lives and on our screens for a long time. Given the wide range of characters Greenblatt has played including the young Ahsoka Tano, some fans may be curious about her ethnicity. That’s what we’re here to help clarify!

Ariana Greenblatt is biracial. Her mother, Soli Greenblatt, is Puerto Rican, while her father, Shon Greenblatt, is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. The actress proudly sports both sides of her ethnic makeup. In general, Ariana Greenblatt has been cast to play Latinx characters, or younger versions of characters portrayed by actresses who are Latinx.

Some of the most notable examples of this include Avengers: Infinity War, in which Ariana Greenblatt played the younger version of Gamora. The adult version is played by Zoe Saldana, who is of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent. Another instance was Greenblatt’s appearance on the Disney Plus series Ahsoka. She played a younger version of the titular character, while the bulk of the Star Wars drama revolved around Puerto Rican actress Rosario Dawson.

Ariana Greenblatt has done her part to champion Latinx representation onscreen. She played Latinx characters in films like In the Heights (2021) and the aforementioned Barbie. She does, however, acknowledge that there is still a long way to go.

A big part of Greenblatt’s career plan, up to this point and beyond, is to avoid negative stereotypes in the roles she accepts. She elaborated on this point during a 2020 interview with Civilian Magazine. “I stay away from negative-stereotype roles,” she asserted, before adding:

Even if they have some huge director or studio behind them. I’m hyper-aware of my audience and my fan base, which are predominantly other girls just like me, so I always try to remember that.

Ariana Greenblatt’s plan seems to be working out perfectly. We can’t wait to see what she does next.

‘My mind was just blown’: Eye-popping theory about Qmir’s ‘High Republic’ origins could explain that unexpected ‘Acolyte’ cameo https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/my-mind-was-just-blown-eye-popping-theory-about-qmirs-high-republic-origins-could-explain-that-unexpected-acolyte-cameo/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/my-mind-was-just-blown-eye-popping-theory-about-qmirs-high-republic-origins-could-explain-that-unexpected-acolyte-cameo/#respond Wed, 31 Jul 2024 23:34:20 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1733324 The pathway to many abilities that some consider to be unnatural.]]>

Despite his generic first appearance, Qmir turned out to be the most interesting character in The Acolyte, but forget everything you thought you knew about the villain, because this new fan theory will have you reading The High Republic books and re-watching the show in no time.

At first glance, we thought this new Sith Lord was going to be either Darth Plagueis or a Jedi gone rogue. The last final episodes of The Acolyte proved that our speculations about Qmir being a former Jedi were somewhat true, but the lingering mystery of his identity still casts a large shadow over The Acolyte and its future seasons.

In fact, it’s still unclear who Qmir is, or how he’s connected to Vernestra Rwoh. All we know about the character is that he used to be a Jedi Knight “a long time ago,” and now he’s embraced his passions and wields the Force as a Dark Side practitioner. If that isn’t intriguing enough, it’s also entirely possible that Qmir is working with Darth Plagueis, though we don’t know anything about their relationship other than a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo from Palpatine’s eponymous Sith master in the finale.

Well, a new Star Wars fan theory about Qmir may finally explain who he is and what sort of agreement he has with Plagueis. According to a galaxy far, far away content creator on TikTok, Qmir is none other than Jedi Padawan Imri Cantaros, who was a prominent character in The High Republic books.

Imri once learned under Vernestra, and there was a time in that particular adventure where he gave in to his anger and turned to the Dark Side of the Force. Such was the extent of Imri’s boiling anger towards the Nihil marauders who killed his original master that he even dueled Vernestra for a while before calming down. Now, this new theory wonders if Imri somehow fell into that same pit again and this time went all the way to the Dark Side. You can check out the details for yourself in this TikTok video by _element7_ aka Dyad in the Force.

The only major snag is Qmir’s age. Imri was around at 220 BBY, almost a hundred years before the events of The Acolyte, so how could Qmir possibly be the same person? Well, the edgy Sith apprentice does say that he was a Jedi “a long time ago,” and considering his association with Plagueis, it’s highly likely that he gave him a dose of that “pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.” After all, we know that surviving death and even playing at immortality are parlor tricks to Palpatine and his master.

Ultimately, you should take all of this with a grain of salt until The Acolyte returns with another season. In the meantime, you could opt to read the High Republic novels featuring Imri Cantaros, namely Light of the Jedi, A Test of Courage, Race to Crashpoint Tower, and Defy the Storm.

‘Red Dead Redemption vibes’: The votes are in on whether or not ‘Star Wars: Outlaws’ is the best Ubisoft release in years https://wegotthiscovered.com/gaming/red-dead-redemption-vibes-the-votes-are-in-on-whether-or-not-star-wars-outlaws-is-the-best-ubisoft-release-in-years/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/gaming/red-dead-redemption-vibes-the-votes-are-in-on-whether-or-not-star-wars-outlaws-is-the-best-ubisoft-release-in-years/#respond Tue, 30 Jul 2024 20:47:38 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1732676 Is this the open-world 'Star Wars' game we've always wanted?]]>

The final previews for Star Wars Outlaws are in and it seems that the galaxy far, far away fans are in for a treat when the open-world actioner drops on August 30.

Ubisoft has presided over a string of hit-and-miss releases over the past couple of years. Whether it be the severely underwhelming latest installment in Far Cry or another Assassin’s Creed entry that doesn’t manage to retain relevancy for more than a month, or even a disastrous launch like Skull and Bones, the French game publisher desperately needs a huge win to balance it against all the recent scrutiny.

Well, it appears that Star Wars Outlaws, against all odds and despite the lackluster gameplay trailers, might be just the title to finally allow Ubisoft to rise from the ashes. In fact, the final previews from different outlets claim that the game’s open-world works so well, it might be on par with Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption.

Many publishers spent hours in-game and were impressed by how everything comes together in Massive Entertainment’s new creation.

Other Star Wars fans who got early access also came out of the game positively surprised.

In fact, if there’s one thing everyone can agree on, it’s that the open-world experience is simply sublime.

Apparently, the game is so good that it’s going to remind you why you fell in love with Star Wars in the first place.

It’s always the small details that immerse players in the world. For example, you can pet the creatures you come across in Star Wars Outlaws.

Lastly, GamesRadar asserted that Outlaws is the perfect Western Star Wars adventure you could possibly ask for, with “serious Red Dead Redemption vibes.”

Of course, as you can imagine, a lot of people are still not sold, especially when the previews goes so far as to compare Outlaws to one of the greatest games ever made.

Another major deal-breaker for people is the outrageous price tag.

Our own initial thoughts on the game highlighted how generic everything looked, both in terms of gameplay mechanics and storytelling craft, but it seems that Massive has somehow managed to make it all work.

Still, despite my overall lingering pessimism, I can’t deny that some of these features in the open-world environment sound compelling. We’ve all always secretly wanted an open-world Star Wars game that allows you to traverse the galaxy and create your own adventures, and it seems that for the time being, and for better or for worse, Outlaws is as close as we’re going to get to that perfect experience.

‘What it feels like to make the jump to hyper-space’: Mark Hamill predicts America’s fate the way only a true Jedi can https://wegotthiscovered.com/politics/what-it-feels-like-to-make-the-jump-to-hyper-space-mark-hamill-predicts-americas-fate-the-way-only-a-true-jedi-can/ Thu, 25 Jul 2024 19:13:36 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1729609 He leans on his Millennium Falcon experience to predict the starry future.]]>

If the force truly is strong with Mark Hamill, then we’ll be in for a strange experience that involves Kamala Harris winning the presidential election this November. If not, then maybe this is just The Empire Strikes Back.

Hamill took to his X account — as he normally does — to offer his political take. However, this time he went a bit Nostradamus on us while offering an example of what life will soon feel like.

As we all know, Hamill played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars where he learned about the dangers of hyperspace from Han Solo. He discovered that “Flying into hyperspace isn’t like dusting crops.” He also wisely learned that “without precise calculations, you could fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova and that’ll end your trip real quick.”

This confirms that Hamill is well-versed in the dangers of hyperspace and, clearly, we are presently flying through an asteroid field of political madness. Of course, Luke spent most of his hyperspace trip in Star Wars blinded by the blast shield on his helmet while trying to learn the Force via a lightsaber, but we’ll be spared such lessons ourselves.

Today, Hamill took the time to raise the blast shield so he could post on social media to describe the trajectory of America’s potential future.

Personally, I think this is the closest we’ll ever get to knowing what the Battle of Hoth feels like. A lot of cold people out there, some on your side, others not as they’re trying to ruin you, destroy your power, and you’re just trying to make it out of there safely.

But who am I to question Mark Hamill? However, if his prediction of Harris becoming President of the United States proves to be wrong then does that mean we will have a Return of the Jedi episode, and, if so, who plays Luke?

Who does Carrie-Anne Moss play in ‘The Acolyte?’ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/who-does-carrie-anne-moss-play-in-the-acolyte/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/who-does-carrie-anne-moss-play-in-the-acolyte/#respond Thu, 25 Jul 2024 14:47:05 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1674285 Our favorite genre queen has just entered the chat.]]>

Like the proverbial Bat Signal, all types of creatives have been drawn to the Star Wars universe. Disney Plus’ influx of television has made it easy for many actors to venture to a galaxy far, far away.

The newest venture is the 8-episode first season of The Acolyte. Canonically set a century before the events of The Phantom Menace, The Acolyte features a crop of Jedi and their trials during the High Republic. Amandla Stenberg stars as a nefarious character who seeks to destroy the Jedi, as well as her twin sister, Osha. Also in attendance is Squid Game’s own Lee Jung-jae as a Jedi master and youngling teacher. But perhaps the most exciting for sci-fi fans is the addition of Carrie-Anne Moss to the cast. Her role as Jedi master Indara brings back memories of her days as leather-toting hacker Trinity in The Matrix in the best way possible.

Who is Carrie-Anne Moss in The Acolyte?

While Indara is tragically killed in the first moments of the series, that’s almost a red herring. She recurs throughout the first season in a series of flashbacks that slowly reveal the plot of the Jedi. After a formidable sequence where she fights — mainly without the use of a lightsaber — Indara is in the thick of events that show how insidious the Jedi are in their own way. The very code that the Jedi live by is ultimately to their detriment. Clinging to the ways of the Order that indoctrinate young children and squirrel away feelings is the direct cause of the creation of Mae, the titular first acolyte to Manny Jacinto’s The Stranger.

Entertainment Weekly states that Mae is not necessarily a Sith, but has a morally gray character alignment. This state of affairs is highlighted by showrunner Leslye Headland’s interest in telling a different kind of Jedi story, which she shared with the outlet.

“That was kind of my dream Star Wars idea. But it felt like the time period to do that in would be something pre-Phantom Menace. That seemed to be the most interesting trajectory for the Sith: How did the Sith go from the Rule of Two and being quote-unquote ‘extinct’ to Palpatine coming into power without the Jedi knowing about it?”

The Acolyte accomplishes this in an interesting fashion, showing the different perspectives of one harrowing event. Master Sol sins terribly while many of his fellow Jedi are complicit, after discovering the existence of a coven of Force-using witches. They storm the community which has devastating consequences. The only one truly absolved of wrongdoing is Indara.

The equivocal leader of the group investigating a Force vergence on the planet, she urges patience in her fellow Jedi. After Sol discovers the existence of Mae and Osha, he rushes to quote-unquote save them from their evil coven. While at first, it seems that Indara is just as guilty as Sol, her support of restraint proves that if Sol wasn’t there, these events would have been very different. She tells Sol that the girls are too old to train and they shouldn’t be taken from their community. She doesn’t want to be perceived as a threat but Sol’s impulsiveness causes the destruction of the coven.

Indara is the exception to the rule that many Jedi are corrupted by bureaucracy. Should The Acolyte get a second season, it is unlikely we will see a recurrence of the character. A real shame since Moss was an asset to the unique series. Fans can revisit these differing perspectives by streaming The Acolyte on Disney Plus.

Leslye Headland has officially made her mark on the Star Wars mythos, with her flashy-yet-mysterious brainchild The Acolyte having officially wrapped its first season as of last week. And, while it seems to have a firm grasp on the cartoonishness that made the original Star Wars films pop, a possible second season would do well to beef up its storytelling merits.

Indeed, the intrigue and characterization were solid enough in the two-episode debut, but the dialogue only seemed to nosedive as time went on, and it became harder and harder to well and truly buy into the plot.

So, what’s the lesson we should all be taking from this, folks? That’s right; the moment you kill off your Wookiee characters, your show becomes way worse.

Who is Kelnacca in The Acolyte?

Image via Disney Plus

From what little we got to know of him, Kelnacca led a pretty quiet life, but was once part of a Jedi team who was sent to Brendok, the home planet of Osha and Mae. Here, Kelnacca and the rest of the team (including Indara, Torbin, and Sol) took it upon themselves to get involved with the coven that Mae and Osha grew up under, only to create severe tension that eventually turned bloody. During this time, Kelnacca fell under the mind-control Force powers of the coven, and fought against Torbin and Sol. He was later freed by Indara.

Over a decade later Mae intended to turn herself into Kelnacca (and, by extension, the Jedi Order) for the crime of killing Indara and Torbin. Unfortunately, Qimir got to him first, and so Mae wound up greeting Kelnacca’s corpse instead.

In short, Kelnacca was a Jedi who got roped into some very shady Jedi shenanigans, and paid the price by being forced to attack his friends and getting assassinated later on, probably with a fair share of guilt to boot.

The first season of The Acolyte is available to stream in full on Disney Plus.

Who is Dafne Keen’s Jecki in ‘The Acolyte?’ https://wegotthiscovered.com/disney/who-is-jecki-in-the-acolyte/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/disney/who-is-jecki-in-the-acolyte/#respond Thu, 25 Jul 2024 08:51:41 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1705889 Our first Human/Theelin hybrid!]]>

The Acolyte might not be every Star Wars fan’s cup of tea, but the latest live-action has already created some fan-favorite characters. With a budget of $20 million per episode, the series has one of the biggest television budgets to date. While it doesn’t seem like much of that moolah went to refining scripts or dynamic lighting, it has shown itself in the multitude of aliens seen living their best lives out there in the ‘verse.

While alien Jedi are by no means a new concept for the series, Padawan learner Jecki Lon is the first Theelin-human hybrid the franchise has ever had.

What species is the Jedi Jecki Lon in The Acolyte?

If you feel that Jecki’s vibrant orange coloring is familiar, you’d be right – the first Theelin reared her exotic head in the remastered Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The revamped entry added the musical number, “Jedi Rock,” which featured the orange-haired Theelin, Rystáll Sant, as a hip-gyrating backup dancer.

The Theelin are known for their artistic pursuits and can be found all around the galaxy. Their mottled skin, brightly colored hair, and facial horns are easily visible, but the race also sports hooved feet!

The Acolyte creator, Leslye Headland, spoke openly about her desire to bring a human-Theelin hybrid to the screen. She told Star Wars.com that after falling in love with Sant, she always wanted to see a Jedi version of the alien. “There were certain things that I really wanted to do. You’ll see a half-Theelin, half-human Jedi, Jecki, played by Dafne Keen, which was always a dream of mine.”

How old is Jecki in The Acolyte?

Image via Disney Plus

Jecki is still a Padawan learner in The Acolyte and serves Jedi Master Sol. In episode 1, Sol laments that her first mission will be to help him find Osha. Most human younglings ascend to Padawan at around 13, though Jecki’s age is never explicitly stated, she’s likely somewhere between 14-16.

Despite her young age, Jecki is incredibly logical and devoted to the order. She is incredibly mature and dedicated to Jedi rules and teachings. The respectful Padawan even requests permission to speak and defers to her elders – unless she feels that she is right. While she shows respect to her comrades, she also acknowledges their faults. She knows exactly what to expect from a himbo like Yord.

Jecki is played by Dafne Keen. The British-Spanish actress comes from a long line of artists, including poets, writers, and actors. She got her start acting alongside her father at just 9-years-old. Her most prominent roles to date were as Laura in Logan alongside Hugh Jackman, and as Lyra Belacqua in the BBC drama His Dark Materials.

What happened to Jecki Lon?

Image Via Disney Plus

You probably already guessed it, but there are spoilers ahead.

Jecki is one of the first Jedi – aside from Master Sol – to believe that Osha isn’t the murderer. She gladly accepts the mission to help Master Kelnacca and prove Osha’s innocence, but the mission to Kohfar would be her last.

The “hapless” apothecary the Jedi interrogated on Olega revealed himself to be The Stranger, the sith behind the organized attacks. Jecki was able to survive the first wave of combat, which saw The Stranger claim the lives of several older Jedi, including Yord Fandar, and even bested Mae in single combat.

Jecki and Sol came to blows with The Stranger yet again in a fight that many fans now consider to be one of the best light saber battles since “Duel of Fates” from The Phantom Menace. While her skill with one saber was enough to Stop Mae, Jecki was even more adept with two. She not only holds the Sith at bay, but also managed to smash his Cortosis helmet.

Unfortunately for fans, Jecki Lon’s skills were no match for The Stranger. Shortly after removing his helmet, The Stranger unleashed his sabers hidden Shoto blade, and ended the young Jedi’s life. Jecki’s body was recovered alongside her fallen comrades, and her death was eventually pinned on Jedi Master Sol.

The Acolyte has finally wrapped on Disney Plus, and despite more than its fair share of mid-season jitters, a strong opener and bookend combined with a very apparent love for the Star Wars mythos may earn Leslye Headland’s mystery thriller a second season.

Indeed, colorfully-crafted sci-fi combat and set dressing turned out to be one of the greatest strengths of this High Republic tale, while a fair chunk of the story beats could have used a little more time in the oven. Nevertheless, even The Acolyte‘s narrative endeavors had some noteworthy peaks, one of which being Mae’s encounter with Master Torbin in the second episode.

Who is Master Torbin in The Acolyte?

A young Master Torbin in 'The Acolyte'

Portrayed by Game of Thrones‘ Dean-Charles Chapman, Master Torbin was a Jedi Master and former Padawan of Master Indara who had—at the time of the second episode—spent the last 10 years in a silent meditation guarded by a relentless Force field. This proved to be a problem for Mae, who happened to have Torbin on her hit list.

It’s not until Mae returned to Torbin’s temple, this time with a vial of poison and a convincing argument rather than knives and tenacity, that she managed to get Torbin’s attention. In his final moments, Torbin revealed to Mae that his mission on Brendok (the home planet of Mae, where he accompanied fellow Jedi Sol, Indara, and Kelnacca) maybe wasn’t the venture of goodwill he thought it was.

And indeed, it was not; this particular Jedi sect had a bit too much main character energy for their own good, and wound up disrupting Mae and Osha’s coven to the point where it wound up cannibalizing itself. Torbin probably should have known better than to keep going along with it after falling under the terrifying spell of Mother Aniseya, but his conscience kicked in a little too late, and only through the animus of Mae was he able to escape his guilt.

‘The Acolyte’ finale twist created a major prequel trilogy plot hole that makes us question Anakin Skywalker’s turn to the dark side https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/the-acolyte-finale-twist-created-a-major-prequel-trilogy-plot-hole-that-makes-us-question-anakin-skywalkers-turn-to-the-dark-side/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/the-acolyte-finale-twist-created-a-major-prequel-trilogy-plot-hole-that-makes-us-question-anakin-skywalkers-turn-to-the-dark-side/#respond Tue, 23 Jul 2024 22:39:08 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1728532 It's a real Occam's Razor.]]>

In the wake of The Acolyte, Star Wars fans have some serious reckoning to do. The controversial series, like most recent entries, has torn the fandom asunder. For every fan who hated the fledgling series, there was another who loved it, and despite the ceaseless venom slung its way, The Acolyte continues to land in the top ten on streaming charts.

As it should, for as divisive as the show has been, director Leslye Headland delivered what she promised. The series is a sort of love letter to Star Wars and is packed with so much fan service, it will probably take us years to sift through it all. But for every Easter egg the staff slipped into the series, they tweaked the lore enough for fans to cry out over canon-breaking shenanigans. One such “unforgivable sin” comes from the first onscreen depiction of a weeping Kyber Crystal, and the transformation from Jedi weapon to a Sith tool.

Why do Kyber Crystals turn red?

Osha and Qimir in The Acolyte episode 6
Photo via Lucasfilm/Disney Plus

Red lightsabers are one of the staples of villainy in the galaxy far, far away, but fans of the live-action films might not know exactly how the blades get their iconic hue. The blade component of any saber is made up of a Kyber Crystal, a tiny sentient stone that’s naturally attuned to the light side of the Force. While Jedi undergo a strenuous trial to find and claim their crystals, Sith can only corrupt one that is already bonded to a Jedi.

By infusing it with their hate, pain, and anger, a Sith can corrupt the crystal, bending it to their will. The “bleeding” of a crystal can have serious consequences for the stone. They can shatter or fracture becoming unpredictable, like Kylo Ren’s, or outright refuse to turn and break instead. Some are even powerful enough to outright resist the change, or hold onto enough of the light side that they can be purified by powerful Jedi like Ahsoka Tano.

While it might sound strange, the crystals (unless synthetically made) are sentient to some extent. This might help explain the difference between Osha and Anakin’s dark side encounters. Osha managed to change the crystal quite quickly, which could have several explanations. Perhaps seeing Osha betray and kill her former master, the saber’s wielder, was enough to break it. Maybe its role in slaughtering her family pushed it to succumb to the bleeding. Or maybe, her grasp on the dark side was too much for the crystal to bear.

Either way, the quick change immediately raised fans’ hackles. After all, if a single brutal murder could change this stone, why didn’t Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber change? Surely there was no way that Osha felt more rage in that moment than Anakin did while full sail slaughtering the Jedi Order. Per usual, it seems like fans are just underestimating Anakin’s full-blown psychosis.

Why didn’t Anakin’s lightsaber change colors?

Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader
Photo via Lucasfilm

The answer is fairly simple. Osha gave into her anger and rage, pushing it into the crystal – even if it was involuntary. Anakin, despite slaughtering countless people, never believed he was in the wrong. Even as he choked the life out of his pregnant wife, he still couldn’t see how the dark side – and Palpatine – had twisted his mind. Had Obi-Wan failed to disarm his former apprentice as he lay screaming in the fire of Mustafar, we might have seen the transformation. But unfortunately for movie lovers, Vader’s first saber hasn’t been shown on the screen.

Vader eventually bleeds multiple crystals in the comics, but even as a Sith Lord he struggles more than Osha. The glimpses we see of the process from the Dark Horse Darth Vader series showed that, even as a fully-fledged Sith Lord, deep inside of him, Anakin still felt the tug of the light side of the Force.

If that doesn’t satisfy your curiosity, there is one concrete reason why Anakin’s saber never switched to that daunting Sith red. Star Wars canon is as necessary to fans as the Force is to Jedi. Anakin’s iconic blue saber was necessary for continuity with the original trilogy, no more, no less.

The success of The Acolyte’s finale has shone a light on Sith culture more than ever. Though the series had a shaky start, Osha’s (Amandla Stenberg) acceptance of the Dark Side has put a human face on the faction of Star Wars lore.

The last episode of season 1 also had the surprising benefit of seeing a famous Sith Lord who has been often referred to in the past 20 years but never seen. Darth Plagueis the Wise, infamously introduced in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith is briefly shown lurking around Osha and The Stranger (Manny Jacinto). But while famous with fans, is he the most powerful Sith Lord in the history of Star Wars? In the face of the well-known Rogues Gallery of Sith Lords, it’s a hard title to win.

Is Plagueis the most powerful Sith Lord?

Out of all the Sith Lords — both canon and not — there are three that come to mind. Revan, Bane, and Plagueis arguably have boasted the most contributions to Sith culture. Be it through combat prowess, knowledge of the Force, or legacy, each of these Dark Force users has their own claim to fame, and that is the issue with trying to find the most powerful Sith. At least with this trio, they are all so different. Each has their own unique story and skill sets and it’s almost impossible to find a clear winner. In fact, it is easier to find a clear loser.

Sorry, Plagueis. When it comes to brute strength, the most powerful you are not. That isn’t to say the Munn doesn’t have his attributes. He of course is the main manipulation that brings Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) to the Dark, but this has less to do with outright Force abilities and more to do with his work as a scientist. As Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) tells Anakin in Revenge of the Sith, Plagueis had the power over life and death. It just didn’t work in his favor at the end of it all. Plagueis could manipulate midi-chlorians to stop those he cared about from dying. However, it couldn’t save himself. Ironically, his apprentice murdered him once he had decided he learned everything he could from his master. This ending is one of the less impressive ones, especially compared to Plagueis’ betters.

What about Revan or Bane?

To get to the heart of the Sith MVPs, we need to go back a thousand years or so. That is when Sith Lords did not mess around and had long lives full of twists and turns where they proved their worth. The first to be born was Darth Revan. The character initially appeared in the turn-based video game Knights of the Old Republic.

Revan has a much-admired legacy, specifically because of how many hats he wore. First trained as a Jedi, Revan was immediately spotted as a prodigy. From a young age, he could master almost any Force power that came his way. So much so that the Jedi Council became concerned about how elevated he was. He later proved himself as a more than capable battle commander in the conflict against the Mandalorians where he defeated their leader in one-on-one combat. And that was only his resume with the Jedi.

He would later join the Dark Side with his associate, Malak, and prove to be an even more formidable force. And again, his story doesn’t end there. After Malak betrays him, the Jedi rescue Revan only to wipe his memories and train him as a Jedi to destroy Malak. They understand that Revan’s talent cannot be wasted and he is the only one who can defeat his former friend. And again, Revan stands apart because he has even another twist. Later, he starts to regain his memories of the Dark side of his life and goes on a journey to recover what he has lost. This results in him splitting his personas in two — one Light and one Dark. Even in death, his Dark side is so powerful he wills himself back to life for the sole purpose of vengeance. When it comes to Force ability alone, it is hard to count anyone against Revan.

However, as everyone must in the end, Revan succumbs to death. Even so, his legacy is so significant that while redeemed by the Jedi, he remains a hero to many Sith. First and foremost among those who revered him is Bane. Darth Bane is most famous because he is the Sith Lord who implements the Rule of Two. Before his time, the Sith were so bloodthirsty that infighting resulted in the dissolution of the sect. Bane was the sole survivor of the destruction of the Sith and decided that in order for them to survive, there could be no more than two of them. A master and an apprentice. This way they could live in secret and destroy the Jedi from the inside out.

Bane is powerful in his own right, though quite different from Revan. His intelligence and cunning allow him to survive the destruction of his people and his teachings become the instrument that many Sith follow until the time of Palpatine and Vader. But it isn’t a stretch to say that without Revan, there would be no Bane. Bane idolized his predecessor, so much so that he sought Revan’s Holocron to further understand his philosophies. Both Bane and Revan are paramount to Sith culture, but Revan started a chain of events that would continue for thousands of years.

Babies can be a lot of work, but they always reward you with their best moments, their daily progress, and their adorableness. They are a fresh source of meaning for new parents, a change in one’s priorities, the most precious thing in the whole world.

Our star today, Mason, is as precious as a baby can be. Not only is he cute beyond words, but he is also capable of vocalizations one would likely not expect from a baby. One might hear this sound at a Star Wars convention, as a Chewbacca cosplayer tries to act in character but hearing it from a baby is spectacular, unusual, and unbelievably endearing.

His mother on TikTok, Gigi Brooks, tends to share her daily routine with her baby, usually pertaining to what she cooks for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She bears herself with the joyful aura of a new mom, who’s enjoying each and every little daily treasure of motherhood, and she’s excited to share some snippets of her happiness with her followers.

In one of her pinned videos, Gigi had to ask others on TikTok whether anyone else has a baby who makes such a unique sound on a regular basis. She explains that Mason, who is now 10 months old, has been making Chewbacca sounds since he was born.

If it comes to picking between crying and making Chewbacca noises, most people would choose for their baby to be proficient in the latter. Even though Mason fires off those reverberations in protest, impatiently waiting to be fed, it’s still less shrill and discomforting than to hear a baby’s cries. In fact, it is amusing and charming and, if the comments are any indication, netizens adore Mason’s idiosyncratic way of expressing himself.

One commenter wrote: “Not joking, I called my son Chewbacca for a while because he did the same 😂 this just reminded me that he doesn’t do it anymore and I’m a little sad tbh hahaha cherish it 😭😭

The most wholesome part of the video is arguably when Gigi turns the camera so it captures both of them while she feeds Mason. His smiles and giggles upon seeing himself on the screen are nothing short of delightful. The baby is not in the least camera shy. Mason probably takes after his mom who appears quite at ease with filming herself and her family, allowing people online to witness these undeniably sweet interactions.

‘Some of the best in all of Star Wars’: One incredible element of ‘The Acolyte’ is elevating the entire saga to new heights https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/some-of-the-best-in-all-of-star-wars-one-incredible-element-of-the-acolyte-is-elevating-the-entire-saga-to-new-heights/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/some-of-the-best-in-all-of-star-wars-one-incredible-element-of-the-acolyte-is-elevating-the-entire-saga-to-new-heights/#respond Fri, 19 Jul 2024 09:05:13 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1726531 I am with the Force. After all the heated discourse, Disney Plus’ The Acolyte won out in the end, with the season finale of the Star Wars series proving that it’s a top contender for fan appreciation.

The murder mystery driving the characters reaches a fever pitch in episode 8. Osha finally learns that Mae wasn’t solely responsible for what happened to their coven as children. After the fire rages in their community, Sol (Lee Jung-jae) kills Mae and Osha’s mother with a single lightsaber stroke. But that isn’t the only surprise the final episode has in store. Osha sees firsthand the hypocrisy of the Jedi Order and how her passions were never quelled. Driven to the Dark Side, she agrees to train with Qimir (Manny Jacinto). All in all, it puts a perfect cap on a compelling season, whether the show gets a second one or not.

Fans have come to an agreement that the storytelling was equally as significant as another element. It is after all not a classic Jedi story without fight sequences. And with the introduction of Qimir’s role as The Stranger came fight scenes rarely seen in the franchise before.

Fans love the fight sequences in The Acolyte

The Acolyte does the impossible and holds its own against the fight choreography even from the prequel films. Per Entertainment Weekly, Dafne Keen teased that the show would challenge “The Duel of the Fates” when it comes to high-stakes fighting. And though a high bar to clear, she wasn’t exactly wrong. The reveal of The Stranger’s identity came with an episode-long fight sequence that took the lives of many Jedi and made Qimir legitimately terrifying. Fans took to social media to celebrate.

These fight scenes work so well because of how foreign Qimir seems to the other characters. In this era, the Sith are a rumor long since past and the Jedi do not have much context for Dark Force users. Jedi describe Qimir’s fighting as chaotic and unpredictable, which adds to these impressive scenes. Many fans agree that Qimir added to the intensity of the series.

In the finale, these scenes were stepped up even further. The duel between Sol and Qimir shows breathtaking saber work that wowed audiences.

If there is one thing that tends to unite the historically divisive Star Wars fandom, it’s fight choreography. It may not stop all of the toxic dynamics in the franchise, but has turned the tide for the reputation of the series. We can only hope the show will progress into a sophomore season for more Qimir representation.
